I can hear you now; why are we talking about Christmas when it’s October! I promise, the holiday season will be here before you know it and I want you to be prepared. I start shopping for Christmas presents in January. I make a list of all the people that I need to buy gifts for and whenever I see something that I know they would love or they mentioned in passing they would like it, I buy it! Here are the 3 reasons you should start shopping for Christmas presents now. I have also included a free Christmas Gift List printable!

Shopping all Year is Financially Smart
In our budget each month we put money away to our Christmas fund. We figured out the total amount we wanted to spend on gifts for Christmas and put money away monthly. Setting aside money from the beginning of the year is beneficial for two reasons. This allows us to buy gifts as we find them without hurting our monthly budget and does not force us to spend a TON of money all in one month as we frantically shop for gifts.
Christmas Shopping becomes Enjoyable Again
I love to shop. Especially in the crazy Christmas season. There is something so exciting about the crazy malls, the Christmas bustle, cold weather and singing Christmas carols while I shop. But, I think I am the only mom in the history of moms that feels this way. When you shop throughout the year, the stress of finding gifts for everyone on your list along with the rest of the country disappears. You can actually enjoy all the fun of holidays like caroling, snowball fights (everyone but us in Texas) and cozy fires.
No more Meaningless Last Minute Christmas Gifts
We have all done it. We forgot to get someone a present and we had approximately 3 hours to find the perfect gift. Either we paid a ridiculous amount of money for the perfect gift or we settled because it was last minute. No more if you shop throughout the year. My love language is gift giving and finding the perfect, meaningful gift is very important to me. Having to purchase gifts for my family in a short period of time is my worse nightmare. It does not allow me the time to think and plan and find the perfect gift for everyone in my family.
How do I keep it all straight? Who I have bought for, what my ideas are and if I am on budget? Lists of course! I rely heavily on my Christmas Gift list to keep me organized and on top of my Christmas Shopping. I created a Christmas Gift List printable for you! What about you all? Do you shop all year long or are you a last minute shopper? I would love to hear your Christmas shopping traditions!
